Back in July 2021, I wrote an article highlighting the crisis within the Nationalist Party. At the time, PN looked tired. The party had failed to regenerate itself. No new blood was coming in. The same old faces dominated the scene.
Fast forward four years. What a change.
Today, the PN benches are filled with fresh energy. The best and brightest minds represent the party in Parliament. Most of them are relatively young. The difference is striking.
At the helm stands Dr. Alex Borg. Only 30 years old. A natural-born winner. A force of nature. In his first election as a Gozitan MP, he secured over 6,000 first-preference votes. A stunning achievement for a first-timer.
From his first months in Parliament, Borg stood out. People quickly began to see him as leadership material. Three years later, he has done it. He is now PN Leader and Leader of the Opposition.
This is just the beginning.
Dr. Borg has already set the tone for bold change. PN is preparing to amend its statute. Soon, the party will have two Deputy Leaders, each focused on different responsibilities. A new CEO will take charge of financial affairs. An Electoral Campaign Manager will be appointed. Innovative fundraising ideas are on the way, including dedicated crowdfunding for the General Election.
These reforms will position PN as a credible alternative government.
For years, Malta has been crying out for change. People want a strong opposition. They want a real alternative. Under Dr. Borg’s leadership, the PN finally looks ready to answer that call.
The wave of change is coming.
And it might just be the start of something historic.
